The motorcycle cassette system is intended for loading smaller bikes and scooters but can also be configured for use by larger motorcycles. The system is built on the same concept as any other Kar-Tainer transport system, allowing for external pre-staging of motorcycles, before easily loading the pre-staged system into container with a forklift.
The motorcycle cassette system consists of 8 cassettes each loading five bikes. Two cassettes are stacked on top of each other to create one module which in turn can be picked up by forklift and loaded into container. A 40-foot container can fit 4 modules – 40 bikes, but 2 modules – 20 bikes can also be loaded in a 20-foot container. If a 20-foot container is used, the height of the loaded system must be taken into consideration.
Conventional methods for shipping motorbikes either relies on unsafe methods which crams as many bikes onto a truck or inside of a container as possible without proper fastening and securing methods, or are based on loading bikes on a outsized skids which minimizes the amount of bikes you can load in each container. The Kar-Tainer motorcycle cassette system brings the best of both worlds together, maximum space utilization combined with proper quality measures.
All bike handling and loading work happens outside of the container, ensuring the safety of both bikes and operating personnel. The confine of the cassette protects the bikes during loading, transport and unloading, ensuring a record low damage rate. After unloading bikes at destination, the cassettes can be easily stacked on top of each other and 48 – 56 cassettes can be loaded into one container for return shipment.
