We offer a range of flexible leasing options to help our customers access specialized equipment without a hassle, stay financially lean, and minimize risk. Kar-Tainer has been providing leasing services for containerization equipment used by automotive shippers since the start of the 1990’s.
Back then, equipment used to containerize vehicles was largely discarded upon arriving at destination. This had us realize there was potential to supply durable, reuseable equipment on a leasing model, similar to the typical leasing model applied by shipping container leasing companies. By partnering up with the logistics provider of a motor vehicle manufacturer and implementing a returnable solution for SKD cassettes on a leasing basis, we enabled our very first customer to realize cost savings of over 10 million USD.
The leasing model enhances our value proposition to customers beyond just providing hardware. Setting up the right equipment for containerized vehicle transport usually involves significant capital expenditure. However, with our leasing model, customers can transform this investment into a manageable cash-flow item. No upfront CAPEX is required, and equipment costs can be easily calculated on a per-vehicle shipped basis.

SECURITY
Purchase
A long-term lease is a contractual agreement based on a specified quantity of cassettes and a fixed duration, customized to meet the Lessee's requirements. While the typical duration is three years, the term can be adjusted to be longer or shorter depending on market conditions and the customer's needs.
Time+Unit Shipped Lease
A time plus unit shipped lease is a lease model where we as the lessor help hedge the uncertainty that long-distance transport creates for equipment operators. By combining a lower per-diem rate with a fixed “per-unit-shipped” rate, the daily rental fee doesn’t add up as much in case of delayed shipping, or long dwell-time.
Purchase Option on Request
In specific scenarios, especially where Kar-Tainer equipment is used exclusively on domestic moves, a purchase option could be considered. Reach out to discuss such needs with your closest Kar-Tainer representative.
One-way Lease
A one-way lease contract lets the lessee pick up equipment at a pre-arranged location before dropping it off at another location at or near its destination. Such leasing arrangements are not our standard forte but can be accommodated for after consultation, if the vehicle model to be shipped is a fit, and if stock equipment is available.
