About us

Kar-Tainer was founded in 1991 as a solutions provider for vehicle containerization. Our solutions are centered around the patented racking system invented and developed by Kar-Tainer's founder, Richard Cox. The Kar-Tainer racking system is a cassette based system where vehicles are loaded onto the rack externally of the container before being maneuvered into the container with the use of a forklift.

In addition to our top-of-the-class equipment, what makes Kar-Tainer stand out in the world of vehicle containerization is our business model. We operate on a leasing basis where our transport equipment is leased out to our customer, be that an Automotive OEM, a Shipping Liner or a Logistics Service Provider offering containerized vehicle transportation services. In the world of Automotive where new model launches, changing global trade relations and shifting markets can quickly create changes in the supply chain, we limit the financial risk of vehicle shippers through taking on the hazards of asset ownership. Much like most freight forwarders don't own the containers they use, a vehicle shipper can also avoid making substantial investments into containerized vehicle transport equipment.
