The 3-car SKD Cassette system is designed for medium to large vehicles such as SUVs, MPVs, and large sedans. It can accommodate pure BIW (body in white), painted bodies, or full kits, including SKD (semi knocked-down), MKD (medium knocked-down), and DKD (disassembled knocked-down) configurations. This system enables bodies and parts to be loaded onto cassettes outside the container, which can then be easily inserted into the container using a forklift, similar to other Kar-Tainer systems. The 3-car SKD system is offered in two different variants. One where each cassette has an identical design and allows for vehicle body in addition to all lose parts needed to re-assemble the vehicle, is loaded onto one cassette. Another, based on our standard 3-car CBU cassette system, where three unique, interlinking cassettes are used to load mainly pure vehicle bodies.

The first alternative is used mainly in a DKD/MKD scenario, where finished built vehicles are knocked down for easier transport and with the purpose of being re-assembled in destination country. As all parts taken of the specific vehicle needs to be put back onto same vehicle, the system us design to let one cassette carry all parts belonging to the same vehicle. The second alternative is used more in a SKD/CKD setup, where the body-in-white or painted body is taken out of production line in origin country, before being shipped to destination country for final assembly.

Both variants of the 3-car SKD Cassette system are self-supported, external loaded systems. Vehicle bodies and all potential parts are loaded onto the cassette outside the container before being inserted into it with a forklift. The system does not need to be attached to the container floor. Its footprint matches the container floor, and its heavy weight ensures stability during transport. In contrast, less robust systems often require drilling into the container floor and still risk moving around, which can damage the vehicle bodies. A Forklift can lift and insert the loaded cassette into the container, eliminating the need for personnel to enter the container during loading and unloading operations.

Minimal facilities and infrastructure are needed to load or unload vehicle bodies or SKD-kits onto the Kar-Tainer SKD Cassettes. We will collaborate with you to design the optimal method for transferring the bodies from your production line onto our cassettes and, at the destination country, from our cassettes to your assembly line.

Secure safe and efficient loading operations for you cars-in-containers setup.
