The 2-car SKD Cassette system is intended for larger cars like pickup trucks, large-sized SUV, or delivery vans and other utility vehicles. It can load either pure BIW (body in white), painted bodies, or full kits; be that SKD (semi knocked-down), MKD (medium knocked-down), or DKD (disassembled knocked-down). The system allows for bodies and parts to be loaded onto cassettes external of the container, before easily being inserted into container with a forklift, same way as any other Kar-Tainer system.

The 2-car SKD system consists of two identical, six-meter-long steel cassettes. Car bodies can be fastened to crossbars which are elevated from the base-unit to ensure there is sufficient space around the body. Various vehicle parts like tires, engine, transmission, axles, harness, or any other parts can be fastened to the base unit below the body or positioned in load baskets standing on stillages above the vehicle body. How this is solved depends on the actual model and shape of the vehicle to be loaded. The system can be used to ship two cars in a 40-foot container, or one car in a 20-foot container.

The cassette system weighs in excess of 700 KG, it is self-supported, and does not require to be attached to the container floor in any way. The footprint of the system is equal to that of the container floor, this combined with the heavy weight will ensure that everything stays in place inside of the container during transport. Other, less extensive systems will often have to be drilled to the container floor, and even then, will often come lose and move around inside of the container, damaging the vehicle bodies. The loaded cassette can be lifted by a forklift and inserted into the container, ensuring no personnel ever have to enter the container during loading and unloading operations.

Minimalistic facilities and infrastructure are needed to either load or unload vehicle bodies and SKD kits onto the Kar-Tainer SKD Cassettes. We will work with you to design the optimal method to move the bodies of your production line and onto our cassettes, and in turn off our cassettes and onto your assembly line at destination country.
