Kar-Tainer looking to expand presence in ASEAN region
Posted on Jan 23, 2014
Kar-Tainer is looking to expand its presence in the ASEAN and remaining S.E. Asia region, where the automobile manufacturing growth is really on an upward spiral. China and Thailand, in particular, are showing huge export growth in the automotive industry, and through lack of traditional RORO capacity, Kar-Tainer sees a huge potential for the just in time container delivery of motor vehicles. With lower damage rates, more regular deliveries, smaller numbers, lower holding costs, the container, along with the economics of the Kar-Tainer systems, could be the answer for a significant percentage of vehicles moves in the region.
Kar-Tainer CEO, Richard Cox, is already working with potential partners in Thailand, China and India which will see some significant growth in the containerized movement of vehicles in the region.
